The lab houses 30 Silicon Graphics workstations. Each machine is an O2 R5000, 180 MHz SC, with 64 MB memory, CD, 2GB Ultra SCSI disks and 17" color monitors. Primary applications will be SDRC Master Series for CAD and computational fluid mechanics.

On Friday, April 24, 1998 The University of Toledo College of Engineering in collaboration with the M.I.M.E. department dedicated the Richard E. Schreder Computer Aided Design Laboratory. Mr. Schreder, a 1938 alumnus of the Mechanical Engineering Department has donated the funding for the Richard E. Schreder Computer Aided Design Laboratory in North engineering 1039. A ribbon cutting ceremony with Angie and Richard Schreder officially dedicated the laboratory. Joining the distinguished guests were two fellow 1938 alumni, Mr. Howard Meier and Mr. Ed Keefer. Following the ribbon cutting ceremony were welcoming remarks by Dr. Vik Kapoor, Dean of the College of Engineering, comments by Mr. Gene Haberman, Vice President for Development, Dr. Philip White, Director of College Computing and Dr. Nagi Naganathan, Chairman of M.I.M.E. Dick and Angie Schreder then addressed family, friends and participants of the day's events.
