N1954

Ray Duncan provided these pictures of his beautiful HP-11A.

N1954 was built by Charles Drew and is registered with the FAA as a Drew-2. The canopy frame, turtle deck and front portion of the fuselage are the work of Steve Brown, formerly of Freemont, California. The canopy was blown by Cowley (sp?) in Mojave, California and the frame was constructed of carbon fiber by Steve Brown. The system uses the tilt mechanism from an ASW-20 and the supporting gas strut is from the trunk of a1986 Cadillac. The system works very well.

Other modifications include a nose mounted Tost hook. A front air vent was added at the same time. This really improves the ventilation which is a must in the desert Southwest U.S.
